System Design Engineer

The System Engineer and Function Owner role within the Functional Safety area plays a vital role in securing that every step in the design process is in line with functional safety requirements. The area for this role is the fuel cell propulsion system with connected hydrogen storage system and the interfaces to the electromobility systems. It includes cross-functional interaction points at all GTT Engineering organizations.

Tasks include
• Operational responsibility for the team delivery.
• Delivers according to defined methods, expected inputs and outputs.
• Lead system engineering in a technical team and play an active role in the delivery.
• Drive the work from an operational and short-term perspective.
• Integrate deliveries from others.
• Responsibility for securing quality and readiness before release.
• Participate in specification implementation and verification loops to secure system aspects of the solution.
• Secure that system and non-functional requirements are correctly implemented.
• Implement system architecture strategies and roadmaps up to the delivery in the end product.
• Lead concept investigations with teams.
• Steer exploration of alternatives to establish a system level concept together with teams.
• Actively support product manager in clarifying needs of capabilities/enablers and breaking down those to features/enablers.
• Lead the work to specify the Hydrogen System Management (HSM) function
• Coordinate the work to complete the HARA for HSM
• Lead the work to complete the Functional Safety Concept

Required Profile and Skills
• Deep knowledge in automotive Electrical/Electronics Systems and Embedded Software
• Deep knowledge in automotive Functional Safety standards ISO26262
• Experience in leading Functional Safety work within the automotive industry
• Documented competency in System Engineering within automotive industry and the corresponding tools such as System Weaver & SE-tool
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to take own initiatives
• M.Sc. in Engineering or equivalent educational background

Level 3: 7-10 years of experience in the domain
