Job Description

Mechanical Quality Assurance: Ensure the mechanical aspects of the project adhere to Volvo Cars’ quality standards. This includes reviewing the project checklist before each checkpoint/milestone.

Concept Design: Address and resolve mechanics-related issues during the concept phase, ensuring designs meet both technical and operational requirements.

Safety and Compliance: Ensure that safety features related to mechanics are designed and implemented correctly, guaranteeing both functionality and compliance with legal and Volvo standards.

Documentation and Legal Inspections: Oversee legal inspections and ensure that all documentation is accurate and meets internal and external requirements.

Installation Follow-Up: Monitor installations to ensure they align with the approved mechanical design and project plans.

Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines to harmonize technical solutions and ensure mechanical elements are integrated seamlessly into the overall project.

Project Alignment: Coordinate mechanical project issues with shop representatives, ensuring alignment with the line organization where applicable.

Handover: Secure the proper handover of the equipment according to Volvo cars routines, ensuring that the mechanical functions are complete as part of the overall project delivery.

RFQ Compliance: Ensure that the requirements for mechanical documentation are included in the Request for Quotation (RFQ) and review the technical content to guarantee it meets the agreed standards.

Competence Requirements:

A technical bachelor’s degree and at least 3+ years of relevant experience.

Familiarity with the Milestone process and the Tooling & Equipment Process.

Strong understanding of industrial and production processes, with experience in automation, manufacturing systems, and logistics.

Proficiency in CAD (2D and 3D) and Teamcenter.

Familiarity with VCC standards (SDB – Standard Data Base).

Knowledge of the Machine Directive 2006/42/EG and relevant SS EN ISO standards.

Understanding of final assembly processes and body handling.

Basic ergonomics knowledge.

Familiarity with Volvo’s documentation systems.

Additional Desired Competence (Mechatronics):

Knowledge of automation and control systems.

Experience in integrating mechanical systems with software and electrical systems.

Proficiency in systems engineering approaches that include both mechanical and electronic aspects of production equipment.
