Job Description


Our department consist of around 120 people that are responsible for the Active safety platform for enabling driver assistance and collision avoidance functions. We are also responsible for making Autonomous Drive become reality for the customer. To make this happen we are working closely with different stakeholders, function design, software developers and sensor teams developing state-of-the-art LiDARs, ultrasonic sensors as well as cameras and radars.

Within our team we have several core areas as System design, software architecture and software Integration & verification.

You are:

You are a driven, structured and self-motivated senior team player, who will be a part of our agile development team. You are very skilled within SW architecture & design and will be part of developing our next generation of premium Volvo Cars.

You will be a member in a group of around 15 engineers and will collaborate with other architects, lead developers, POs/PMs and stakeholder, both internal and external to the department.

Your focus will be to guide and support our different develop team with cyber security to design next generation of Active Safety and Autonomous Drive system in our cars. You will work closely with other teams and stakeholders to secure that the system is safe from Cyber security point of view.

We see that you have experience within:

Familiarity with relevant standards, such as ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE WP.29, and experience applying these in the development of secure automotive systems.
Security Assessment on systems: ability to conduct TARA (Threat Analysis and Risk Assessments) to identify potential vulnerabilities in vehicle systems and develop mitigation strategies.
Experience with working with FMEA.
⁠Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams (HW, SW & compliance teams) , fostering collaboration to integrate cybersecurity measures throughout the vehicle development process
Experience with Autonomous Drive (AD) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
A comprehensive understanding of critical systems, particularly in the context of autonomous vehicles or highly integrated systems with remote sensing capabilities
Knowledge of in-vehicle network protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet, ) and their associated cybersecurity risks.
⁠Understanding of Over-the-Air (OTA) updates aiming the integrity and authenticity of software updates in connected vehicles.
Knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR) and techniques for protecting sensitive information within vehicle systems and connected services.


It’s meritorious to have knowledge in:

Experience with DevSecOps (secure coding practices, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessments, encryption techniques, key management, and secure communication protocols used to protect data integrity and confidentiality in automotive systems).
Experience with Security V&V: Competence in penetration testing, fuzz testing, and other security validation techniques to ensure that automotive systems are resilient against cyber-attacks.
Integration of Cybersecurity in the Supply Chain cropping with understanding of how to manage cybersecurity risks within the automotive supply chain, ensuring that all third-party components and systems meet required security standards.
Experience with projects running into Agile way of working.


You have:

At least master degree within electronics, mechatronics, software or similar engineering
More than 10 years of experience with system design of safety related projects.
Passion and ability to share knowledge and information with others.
Ability to convey message and express yourself in English both written and spoken
A structured and pragmatic way of working
Driver’s license “B”, valid in EU is meritorious .
